Le Crocodile in Strasbourg is an institution embodied by Monique and Émile Jung who, from 1971 to 2009, led it to the heights of gastronomy. In 2019, Cédric Moulot (C.M Collection, which include the 1741, 1* Michelin), and the Burrus family has completely renovated Le Crocodile and created Émile Jung’s table. In the cuisine, Romain Brillat signs a dark chocolate soufflé tartlet from the Chocolaterie Schaal, morello cherries with Massenez Kirsch, and morello cherry sorbet.

In 2011, Monique and Émile Jung were present at the inauguration of the new Miss Massenez boutique. “You were able to give this Maison, which was in difficulty, back a soul, because you put your heart and love into it”, congratulated them Monique Jung.
“You are complementary and passionate about your work and customers feel it. Like Gaby, you are visionaries and you show intellectual curiosity. Your travels open your mind and you innovate. You are the happy heirs of the Massenez treasures and thanks to you Alsace continues to shine. But above all, I feel your love for the Maison Massenez, just as we were in love with our Crocodile.”

“You have personalised it. Your commitment pays tribute to Gaby, who was an exceptional man with a strong personality. He loved gastronomy, he knew how to eat and receive his guests with great generosity. We had in common a friendship with Roger Verger (Moulin de Mougins) and whenever Gaby went there, he always brought me a small gift from Roger”, Monique Jung recalls with nostalgia.

“I remember your letter and your kindness,” confides Bernard Baud. “Your words were a driving force and an encouragement”. “With Emile, you are an example for us, because just as you led the Crocodile to the stars, just as we lead Massenez to the medals,” adds Elodie Naslin. In 2020, the world’s oldest wine and spirits competition awarded Massenez 4 medals, 2 gold (Vieille Prune and Framboise Sauvage), one silver (Golden Eight®) and one bronze (Poire Williams VRP). The London Spirits Competition 2020 awarded 2 silver medals to the Golden Eight® Pear, and the Williams VRP Pear.
